Our Students continue to have success in many different ways. We've had ACT scores over 30, Academic All-State Softball Players, State Wrestling Champions, State FFA Degrees, Poetry Out Loud state contest qualifiers, State Solo and Ensemble qualifier, a Superior Band Rating, an Excellent Vocal Music Rating, and the list goes on. State Track Meet ResultsOur boys and girls track teams both won the Conference Meet, the District Meet and the Sectional Meet. Our boys ended up placing 6th at the State Meet. Here are the results from the State Track Meet held May 17-May 19 in Jefferson City.

KCI Scholar AthletesLathrop High School had 5 students qualify for the prestigious KCI Scholar Athlete award. Congratulations to Gretchen Mayes, Alan-Michael Sparling, Brett Hall, Clayton Evans, and Chase Harrison - Knighton.
In order to receive this honor a student has to be a Junior or Senior, letter in two MSHSAA sports, be a good citizen and have a cumulative GPA of 4.00 or a cumulative GPA of 3.75 and a composite score of 25 on the ACT or 1300 on the SAT. Hartzell State Wrestler of the YearCongratulations to Josh Hartzell for being named the Class 1 State Wrestler of the Year! Maddick is Top 100 ScholarCongratulations to Brandon Maddick for being selected for the Missouri Scholars 100, honoring the top 100 academic students in the Class of 2013 in Missouri by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals. As the name implies, this is a great honor!
Students were selected based upon a number of factors including GPA, ACT Score, Class Rank, Upper Level Courses, Attendance, Activity Participation and Citizenship. Missouri Homecoming QueenCongratulations to Senior McKenzie Groves for winning the State of Missouri Homecoming Queen Pageant! She will represent Missouri at the National Competition in Memphis this summer! Fantastic! Make-Up DaysWe finalized the dates for our remaining make up days. We will have school on (all Mondays) April 8, April 22nd, May 6th and May 20th. Our last day of school will be Friday, May 24th. Science Olympiad Qualifies for StateCongratulations to our Science Olympiad Team and their head coach Sherry Wolf for their 6th place finish at the State Competition on Saturday! This is not just against 2A teams, there is no size break down in Science Olympiad so we were competing against all the larger schools in the state too! Fantastic! National Forensics Competition QualifiersLHS had two teams compete at the District Forensic Competition in Public Forum Debate. Congratulations to Brandon Maddick and Brett Hall for being the only undefeated team at the end of the competition! Riley White and Jake Hall placed 7th!

The Junior was just named District Wrestler of the Year over 160 other area wrestlers, as well as being chosen as St. Joseph News Press's Wrestler of the Year! Did I mention he was also Academic All-State! Total Student-Athlete! Girls Basketball Team is Conference Champion!The LHS Girls Basketball Team beat Lawson in the last conference contest to go a perfect 7-0 in conference play making them KCI Conference Champions! They finished the season with a record of 18-7.
Congrats to Coach Gordon, Coach Berry, Coach Saling and all the girls on a great accomplishment! You may have to cut and paste the url. School Tax/Finance InformationSince many of us received our personal property tax bills this week I thought taxes might be a good topic. The school’s portion is about 63% of the total personal property tax. We did raise our portion of the tax this year from $4.8625 to $5.0625 per hundred dollars of assessed valuation. If you took the amount of tax on the Lathrop R-II School line and multiplied it by .04, you would get the amount that your taxes increased due to that raise. Click on the title for more!
